The HockeyKnight Story

20 years ago, a few guys from a small town in British Columbia, started a new hockey pool that was a little different than normal “office pools” at the time. We allowed our fantasy teams to include prospects and draft picks, and began building our lifetime franchises. Like many of you, we used pencil, paper, spreadsheets, and stats straight out of the newspaper. And for many years, that was good enough…

But then the internet came, giving us access to many new sources of up-to-the-second information and statistics. We tried moving our pool online many times to the various “hockey pool” services that have come out over the years. But there were always problems: shallow player databases, no prospects tracking, no draft picks, and on and on. Try as we might, none of the services were interested in listening to us and adding the features we wanted.

So decided to build one ourselves…

Three years–and lots of blood, sweat, and tears–later, we are finally launching HockeyKnight. Thanks largely to the ongoing feedback we’ve received though our early beta users, we have built a flexible pool platform that accommodates a wide variety of deep and sophisticated pool configurations—and the world’s first site that can manage points-based, legacy-style pools including:

  • entry draft and free agent draft picks
  • deep player databases
  • flexible roster sizes
  • flexible rules for roster changes
  • flexible pools salaries and team salary caps
  • flexible points calculations
  • regular news updates and Twitter updates
  • trash talk and league announcements
  • flexible advertising options for corporate pool sponsorships

Plus, we’re working on some very exciting top-secret features that we’re sure will appeal to even the most die-hard hockey pool fanatics—and keeping HockeyKnight the most robust and feature-rich hockey pool system anywhere in the world!

While we are in this early stage of development, we are offering a free subscription for the 2011/2012 season. We invite you to come explore the HockeyKnight premium fantasy sports platform, grow your league with us, and experience hockey pools they way they were meant to be.

(HockeyKnight donates 10% of its proceeds to charities that support youth development in sports.)
